I have been scouring the news for Something Good...So 6-6 and I were talking about China and the Pandas....and I decided to look them up and see how they were after the Quake. World Wildlife Fund verifys that the Giant Pandas at the Wolong Great Panda Research and Breeding Center are safe and sound. There are 86 Pandas there and all are accounted for after the Quake.
Pandas In China are their National Treasure....and in Folklore they are believed to have Magical Powers and to be blessed with many gifts. Yet sadly they live or survive on a limited diet, of 15 limited types of Bamboo that only grow in 6 very small Inland China Regions ( yes near the Quake Zone). They also need to eat 16-18 hours a day to stay alive, but they don't tend to eat under stress, so how they handle the Quake and the Aftershocks will be a test for them. They also do not tend to hibernate due to weather or stressful events ( Most bears do), they only hibernate during pregnancy.
Chinese Folklore is based on the Pandas, that they gained their black patches from tears mixed with the Earth when they cried over a lost Protector....But their wellbeing they believe is indeed tied to the that of the fate of the Panda Bear.....
