Christmas Night...12.25.07

It has been a quiet Christmas, but 6-6 and I agreed , one of our favorite ones....and after Moonstuck we will make cookies and have Egg Nog...The cats have not taken the Tree down yet, and the little yellow dog is happy that she had meatloaf for dinner. We did not have snow, but I am sure we will before New Years. I am so grateful to have a home and place to be with my son.....I have faith that good things will come in the New Year for all of us.....Namaste.

Tuesday Night Music 12.18.07.....

When I need to gather my thoughts ...I go to the 3rd floor and look out the window...Sharing the same perspective as the birds is head clearing for me.....I watch them swoop and swirl from tree to tree, the swifts and the swallows and a few Gulls and the occassional Falcon. How do they not fly into each other ? What controls their graceful destiny ? .....

I have linked another Dan Fogelberg song, it is his Wisteria , it is amazing. namaste.

Dan Fogelberg died this morning at 6am

{Click Title: Dan Fogelberg's "Longer"}

*********************************
We are having a storm here by the Big Lake, it is stormy, windy and snowy. If you watched the Browns Game you saw it....whitehout conditions off and on....So I did not watch that much news, and was having internet troubles off and on, so I read and hung out with 6-6.....we were eating snacks and getting ready to watch 60 Minutes when I saw it on the news. So sad.

Dan was many many things. For me, he was one of those people that the songs were so profound.The music was always perfection, but it was his lyrics that would burn their way into your soul. Phrases that were as familiar as a lost love letter. I had every single one of his albums, went to all of his live shows on the East Coast.

His music helped when I lost loves, the Elderly Aunts that I loved and my grandmother, and my first misscarriage, and favorite patients as a young nursing student. We even played him at the pool that I managed as a lifeguard.I played him when we moved to New England as a young bride, and then again moving to the Northwest as I fixed up an old apartment in Capital Hill in Seattle. I sang his songs as Lullabys to a new baby as the rain fell. One of my AIDS patients used Dancing Shoes ( wonderful song) and Leader of the Band at his funeral.As a young girl, a hippy, in a household of conservative judgemental Repugs, his music helped me find my compass.....my peace.

Last week I posted Greg Lake, another that sooths the soul. But this week I think I will post more Dan. tonight it is "Longer"

Friday Night Music.....12.14.07

***************************************
So I put new Posts over on Watergate Summer, and there is new music, no Christmas Music tonight. I realized as I stood at the Grocery store grinding my teeth to Elvis " Blue Christmas" that maybe some of us need a break . ( Ok - that would be ME). as I wrote over at Watergate, I have been sitting here waiting for Mr.Furnace. And it is cold out and in here, so of course I have been daydreaming ALL day about my Favorite Warm Place in the world.....and I even found a Nice Photo of it....

Think you can guess WHAT my favorite Warm Spot is ? oh, come on...free Hot Coco if you get it right....and What is Your Favorite Spot ?

*{ The Music is Emerson,Lake&Palmer "From the Beginning", with an amazing slide show}*

Wednesday Night Music...12.12.07

**********************************************
{Click the title: Emerson, Lake, Palmer "Ce La Vie"}
**********************************************
We are due for a Storm tonight, and big snow.....I usually put Christmas songs to the title, but tonight it is more Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I have been humming this song as I walk this week in the Cold. For some reason this song warms me up.I think it reminds me of my 20's, and feeling Invincible, yet like I had to learn and "grow and go with the Flow"....It is a haunting song.

Tuesday Night Christmas Music 12.11.07

**************************************************
Song is about Peace....Gilbert O'Sullivan did this song back in the Vietnam era, it is definently a song with a messege, and it is not about Santa or Jesus. Gilbert O' Sullivan was not famous, he did a song called "Alone, Again, Naturally that became a cult classic for angst riden teenagers, he would be called EMO today. There is nice art with this video as well....very soothing. With all of the talk of Destroyed Torture Tapes and the Wicked Weather across the country......we just need some nice music and some hot tea.....Tea tonight is Peach Ginger, and homemade pretzels....have a good night....

Definently a night to find a cozy warm fire, and some hot coco. I continue my quest to bring Great Christmas Music to you all this month. We are suposed to have a storm later tonight, the end of those Ice Storms that are plaguing the middle of the Country....even up to the Great Lakes.

This a beautiful version of "I believe in Father Christmas", with beautiful art ( similiar to the painting on this post....)

Thank you all for being good to me while I slug out this job issue....

Saturday Night Music dedicated to John Lennon.....12.08.07

**********************************
Tonight is the anniversary of John Lennon being taken from us. I always think of Yoko Ono on this night, I think of what was taken from her, the love of her life.These chairs really spoke to me when I was trying to find a symbolic photo. That last summer they created Double Fantasy, the greatest Love Story Album ever.......

Thursday Night Music 12.06.07

I walked the dog tonight....and it really did look like this....Icey here, and very cold. The snow crackles underfoot and the ice twinkles.

DK mentioned in the Comments the other day about the Beatles, I listen to them alot ( thanks to 6-6).....but this song has been stuck in my head all week.

Tuesday Night Music .... 12.04.07

Snowing.....cold....I am where I want to be....inside....No One has been by for a few days....Must be the time of year...Christmas....and all...oh well....I will sit and watch the snow...

{Click the Title for the music, this was the First hard Rock Album I ever bought, save all my allowance and weeding money the summer I was 10 or 11, I remember it because I was promptly grounded after buying the album, my mother was furious, sadly for her she ordered me to my room, I sat and read "Crime & Punishment" to her added horror, and with my Headphones on, listened to this song Fullblast....ahhhh those were the days }

Monday Night Music and Thoughts... 12.3.07

Cold and really windy up here by the Lake,40 MPH winds and 22 degree windchill with some Snow moving through. The poor Northwest is really getting pounded with 100 MPH winds and flooding.....My son and I are hunkered down, it will be Chinese noodles,soup and garlic bread for dinner....and alot of hot coco and strong tea. Have a good night stay warm and dry.

"For it is not true that human progress is but a mighty growing pattern woven together by the tenous single threads united in a common effort." Soong Mei-ling ( Madame Chiang Kai-shek)

I love this quote....I wonder what kind of thread am I, am I strong enough, I think I am fine Purple silk....undestructible. I believe that threads connect....it is up to us to make sure they don't tear....gentle hands know how to weave....a strong fabric.
