Tall Trees, Long Walks and Small Hands...

**************************
I saw this photo....and was flooded with memories...Walking with my son for hours...his small hand holding on,sometimes letting go to explore...but always near...under the cool of the trees.

Evergreen Cathedrals
*********************
Mystical and magical....
Breezes that whisper...
Small Childrens Names...
Carrying Distant Secrets....
and Childish Dreams....
Birds Calling like lost lovers...
Branches stretching swaying....
with the weight of rainladen leaves....
Afternoons stand still...
Timeless and Precious....
Mystical and magical.

Love Rocks...

"Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground."
Rumi, Sufi poet

I was unpacking a box today that has gotten moved many many times...and in the bottem was a rock that 6-6 painted me years ago...oh it made me so happy...a rock painted with one nail polish...and one word.....LOVE.

There are many rocks....painted with Hope...and Love...and Wisdom....and the smaller ones I carry in my pocket....but the Rock of Love is my favorite..

Sunday Night Thoughts....Treasure Hunting,Neighbors, and Treats for the Garden...

**************************
"When you come to the edge of all that you Know,
You must believe in one of two things,
There will be earth upon which to stand,
Or you will be given Wings."
Anonymous.
************************

It's very late Sunday Night, I am watching "Witness" ( for the 150th time)...and it's windy and the house is creaking...so I am wide awake... this is one of my favorite movies...There are many poignant scences....One of my favorite scenes is the Barn Raising , but also how music is used to speak...and Eyes. It is beautifully filmed, but the story is well told. My Favorite Scene is the Scene at the end where all the Amish, Silent, Peaceful Un-Armed, Armed with their Honor, their Eyes, and their Dignity, En Masse Face Evil....Truth Facing Criminals...Very very Powerful.

A Power of the People Moment....And today in Portland there was also such a Moment...Photos posted over at Watergate Summer...I value those Moments...And the Urgency of Now attached to These Moments Now....I spoke with my friend in Asia and he was thrilled to hear of That Many People coming together. He had chills as I told him about it...He said that we are Witnessing History and I said Yes.
***********************
On Sundays I clean but late afternoon I go " Shopping", Our Neighborhood puts out trash. But since it is a neighborhood of old homes and college kids , people are always moving and fixing up their homes....Many Treasures have been found on these outings, lovely old furniture, pots for plants, and books. Today I had a Great Treasure Run, a Beautiful Old Rocker that needs some work, a lovely painting, a glorious soft rug, brass lamp, and stacks of Science Books. And then a friend showed up and in her hunting two streets over she found me the most beautiful Vintage Sewing Machine. It is Art Deco Style and a Lovely Bright Periwinkle Blue, In Mint Condition. I have two other machines that I have been trying to repair- but parts are hard to come by, but this is Perfect, has been rewired and even has a repair Booklet with it. ( For some reason the 30s and 40's machines I am always able to repair and comprehend, it is how I am wired).

This friend also helped me acquire some wrought Iron Beds that were thrown out, I am reusing them to in my backyard to grow wysteria , clematis and Beans and create a fencing and benches around the edge.Anybody who read my blog last summer, and remembers reading about my porch knows that I love finding things to create my outdoor Oasis. ( the goal being to not spend any money...and save the money for plants.).

Namaste...

Thursday Evening.....Heros, The Cat and the Missing Coffee

I left the room to go walk the dog , that was a few hours ago. I had made some Coffee, Paul Newmans "Special Blend", somehow drinking that, I can say I am having coffee with Paul, and feel sexy and yet healthy all at the same time. So I put canned milk in it, and some ice, just like one of my Thai patients taught me a long time ago....and let it sit....I walked the dog and looked at The Crescent Moon and pondered how those of us that grew up or came of age in the Sixties, we have a Definent Viewpoint on Heros...It is not a Fragile or shadowed or poorly defined view, it one that is crystal clear and embraceable. We can remember all the Feelings that were a part of the Sixties, the Sandalwood Incense, Patchouli, the soft jeans, and the music. The Excitement that hung in the air like morning dew and the wind that fans it across your face. For many of us Robert F.Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and John F.Kennedy were much more than Just Words, or Speechs, they were Hope, they were Energy, and Vision.

So now we hand that Expectant Air of a Movement to Our Children, just as we had always hoped we would....and we hold our Breath and we say Please......Let Them Feel The Power of a Movement based on Justice, based on Peace...Please.

And I sit with my son and we share Favorite Quotes of these Heros while he loads the Stones and the Beatles into his iPod, and he talks about Obama.....and I am treasuring it...and feeling the Air....and I think about that as I walk and Breathe Deep.

So I finish walking the dog...and I come back...and apparently Harry the Big Orange Cat really enjoys a good cup of Creamy Paul Newman Coffee....he is licking his whiskers with great pride...I am up Blogging about the Thoughts of the Walk, because he is Very Much Wide Awake ......but I am pretty Lucky too...Because I am here now...and Something is Happening.

What an Amazing Evening...

************************************************
If each of you were here I would give you a BIG Hug.....

You see it's funny...Many People have said WOW, people are acting like idiots about this Election, It's not the Titanic Going Down....But see here is the thing for some of us- we have been sitting in Lifeboats watching our country sink these past few years.....and the lifeboats are full of tired people....People that have lost Jobs, Life Savings, Homes, and Loved Ones in Iraq, and Faith in a Criminal Government....it has been a Titannical Administration....

And tonight after Blogging all of this, the Primaries and the Debates and the Criminalities of Bushco...Something Lifted when Edwards stepped on that stage and "The Rising" by Bruce Springsteen was playing....

*{{ Click the Title "I Believe " By Fantasia, this was the night she won in 2004...so heartfelt and so beautifully sung }}*

SOME GOOD NEWS...

I have been scouring the news for Something Good...So 6-6 and I were talking about China and the Pandas....and I decided to look them up and see how they were after the Quake. World Wildlife Fund verifys that the Giant Pandas at the Wolong Great Panda Research and Breeding Center are safe and sound. There are 86 Pandas there and all are accounted for after the Quake.

Pandas In China are their National Treasure....and in Folklore they are believed to have Magical Powers and to be blessed with many gifts. Yet sadly they live or survive on a limited diet, of 15 limited types of Bamboo that only grow in 6 very small Inland China Regions ( yes near the Quake Zone). They also need to eat 16-18 hours a day to stay alive, but they don't tend to eat under stress, so how they handle the Quake and the Aftershocks will be a test for them. They also do not tend to hibernate due to weather or stressful events ( Most bears do), they only hibernate during pregnancy.

Chinese Folklore is based on the Pandas, that they gained their black patches from tears mixed with the Earth when they cried over a lost Protector....But their wellbeing they believe is indeed tied to the that of the fate of the Panda Bear.....

**{{Click the Title and you can a baby Panda which is video filmed at Wolong Center....I don't think he is "pathetic"- but so loveable.... }}**

BROKEN WORLD......prayers and light to Many....

Burma, with yet Another Cyclone on the way...China and the Huge Quake are and damage and Tornado Alley....and Florida Fires....Seems much of the News this past week has been seeing Ravaged Earth and Anguish and Broken Bodies and Broken Homes....so sad...heartbreaking...

MoonRiver.....

I have had this song in my head all day as I cleaned and did laundry....."Breakfast at Tiffany's" is one of my favorite movies, and this song is one of my favorites.....but this time I found a version of it sung by a young artist, Katie Melua, very nicely done, magical. It is linked to the Title. Enjoy....

( It always reminds me of my friend that owned a coffee shop...and now lives 5000 mile away....I used to sing it offkey in my car and annoy him....and make him laugh...)

Sometimes You Just Need an Old Movie....

Final Scene from "Breakfast at Tiffany's".....originally saw this movie with my grandmother,we shared tissues....this has to be the most Romantic Scene ever....

Blooming......

*******************************
Finally everything is blooming in my neighborhood, bright pink Dogwoods....Cherry Blossums...and Lilacs.

Click the Link, the Song is a very sultry jazzy song the musicians on this song are so talented, the artist is Katie Melua, and the song is " I put a spell on you." ( She is a very talented singer from England, I think Amy Winehouse has gotten alot of the spotlight, but this girl is talented.)
