And the Ringtone Story......

Okay so over at Watergate Summer, I posted that 6-6 and I have been talking about Music ( which means that we have been learning that I don't know Enough). So yesterday , after finding my phone stuck under a pillow, I realized that The Ringtone From Hell was driving him crazy- so he said "why don't we change it?". So I said fine.....

So He would sit and pull up lists of Bands , and run off names and then I would sit and look them up on Youtube and see what I wanted on my phone. Well, being funny- he says- Hey why don't we put music on "FROM YOUR ERA" ( Well gee , let me move my walker out of the way and put my teeth in Sonny...) So he says I think you should have some Led Zeppelin or The Who. He says I think you should have the Song "Cashmere" (now that is what my feeble old ears heard....) That song was the first Hard Rock song I ever really heard- I was at the Beach with friends, and some College Students had it blaring out of their car and a bunch of us were trying to Fly Kites.....so that song reminds me of Kites...always.

So I go to YouTube and look up Led Zeppelin and Cashmere, no luck , so then I look up Cashmere and all I find are a bunch of videos of sweaters.....and I did have a nice laugh....and realized that listening to songs from this era really did make me feel absolutely Ancient.....sigh....

Anyways I finally realized I wanted a song from Now, so I found a good Matchbox 20 song....and felt more "with it."..

So What do you have on your phone for a Ringtone ?

I'm glad you didn't use that Led Zep for a ringtone. It needs to build up slowly, so you'd have to let the phone ring a very long time. I have some light Mozart piano piece (forgot the title) that's easy on my ears, but when I'm gonna be in a meeting, I change it to the Wm Tell Overture.

"From your era" might make you feel like an ancient one, until you realize "your era" had the best music (my opinion). A few yrs ago, I was asked, did they have rock'n'roll in your day? Duh .... like who do you think INVENTED it, kid? now, where's my cane ...

the ringtone i use for my daughter's call is a segment from Pink Floyd's The Wall... hello, hello, hello, is there anybody in there
the ringtone i use for Mrs. Light is a chunk from Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side... and the colored girls go doo do doo do doo do doo do doo... (it sounds better than my typing would indicate :)
for most other callers i use a Deva Premal treatment of the Gayatri Mantra... go figure - iam just an old rock&roll yogi

Led's stuff will be released for YouTube and general sale on iTunes on November 17th.

My daughter Maggie's favotite band was Zeppelin. Her anthem was Stairway to Heaven. We still have the big oversized black lighted poster. They rock,....and not to roll.

Stones, Beatles, Who, CSNY, Floyd, Zeppelin and on and on. Still all classic. So is Monty Python:-)

Ring Tone, well if I had a 13 year old around I could change it, but I don't so it is what it is, however, if I wanted to change it I would surely use Springsteen (jersey boy that I am) probably Highways jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power try......
but
My wife (the queen) has a special ring tone for me, music from of the queen of the night from the magic flute,

I have voewd never to pay for a ringtone so I am stuck with the awful, cheesy ringtones that my awful, cheap (free) cellphone came loaded with.

I don't have a cell phone, so don't have that problem...am I the only one on earth without a cell phone and a Windows '98? Sounds like a country song ballad:

"Here alone, without a cell phone; just me and my Windows '98...not even You Tube will work...that's just great."

ringtone. who cares? as long as i can hear the cell phone ring when i use it in israel, where i have no landline. in the usa, where my phone situation/device is the reverse, no ringtone issues, either. just interested in the content of the conversations... and a cost-effective calling plan. oh, no caller ID either. can't i find out the ID when i pick up the phone? and if i don't want to answer, who cares who is calling?

thnx for reminding me that i am old-fashioned in a good way.
