Sail Away....

*Sunset on Sanibel*

************************************
As a teenager I used to sail around Sanibel Island...I am a perfect crew...I am great with knots and have an eye for detail and I have this way of knowing when the wind is switching...Intuition...listening...watching the birds and the tides, and tracking dolphins.....so people used to have me help out on their boats...a way of feeling at one with the water...It was magical...it fed my soul....

argghhh Matey. No I think I would prefer oil and twin screws over canvas and wind when venturing out in Neptune's oceans.

Sailing (frequently) is the only way I have found which allows me to cut myself off completely from all politics. Even though we are all of like minds on my boat, we never lapse into political conversation or jokes. Out there it's always a 3-way contest between us, the other boats racing, and nature. Nature always wins. I think I heard it said in the old movie, The Sailor Who Fell From the Grace of the Sea, (dated!) that "Nothing significant happens on land." I fervently believe that.

I believe that too...I miss sailing I really do...I never did races...I just helped out on people's boat crews..I liked that you could taste the water on the wind...
