Thursday Evening.....Heros, The Cat and the Missing Coffee

I left the room to go walk the dog , that was a few hours ago. I had made some Coffee, Paul Newmans "Special Blend", somehow drinking that, I can say I am having coffee with Paul, and feel sexy and yet healthy all at the same time. So I put canned milk in it, and some ice, just like one of my Thai patients taught me a long time ago....and let it sit....I walked the dog and looked at The Crescent Moon and pondered how those of us that grew up or came of age in the Sixties, we have a Definent Viewpoint on Heros...It is not a Fragile or shadowed or poorly defined view, it one that is crystal clear and embraceable. We can remember all the Feelings that were a part of the Sixties, the Sandalwood Incense, Patchouli, the soft jeans, and the music. The Excitement that hung in the air like morning dew and the wind that fans it across your face. For many of us Robert F.Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and John F.Kennedy were much more than Just Words, or Speechs, they were Hope, they were Energy, and Vision.

So now we hand that Expectant Air of a Movement to Our Children, just as we had always hoped we would....and we hold our Breath and we say Please......Let Them Feel The Power of a Movement based on Justice, based on Peace...Please.

And I sit with my son and we share Favorite Quotes of these Heros while he loads the Stones and the Beatles into his iPod, and he talks about Obama.....and I am treasuring it...and feeling the Air....and I think about that as I walk and Breathe Deep.

So I finish walking the dog...and I come back...and apparently Harry the Big Orange Cat really enjoys a good cup of Creamy Paul Newman Coffee....he is licking his whiskers with great pride...I am up Blogging about the Thoughts of the Walk, because he is Very Much Wide Awake ......but I am pretty Lucky too...Because I am here now...and Something is Happening.

Thank you for this, blog and video. Boy what we lost when we lost RFK, huh? Hope Harry isn't too wired to sleep (oh but then cats can sleep 23-hrs a day, so he'll make up for it tomorrow). Must've been that canned milk. Good thing you hadn't spiked the coffee with something a bit harder. I've never seen a drunk cat, and never hope to see one, but I can tell you anyhow, I'd rather see one, than be one (or something like that).

Big Hug to you too....

DK:
oh I think the creme (canned milk) was a huge hit.....too funny- I never even thought about it...came back and he was soooo happy..he is finally asleep..but boy the caffeine was amazing...Now you mentioned about a Drunk cat....I put a lovely little video below....of two cats trying to use the treadmill- it is a riot...enjoy....

I saw that cat treadmill somewhere and couldn't stop laughing.

I thought I was the only one old enough to remember the 60's.

You should start cafe kitty. Wake them kitties up and put them on the treadmill.

omg...that is so obvious -you are right I should have thrown Harry on the treadmill...he would love it...I will do that tomorrow...hmm, maybe even video it with the phone and put on the blog....

The Sixties are what shaped a whole generation...I was a Sixities Child...my parents were total repugs, BUT I had a Democrat grandmom that was beyond cool...somehow I was really a hippy child very young...( it was like I was not even related to my parensts....) but I had cool aunties and granmom.....and we all greived the loss of JFK, MLK and RFK....we are in a Time of Change...and the similarities are there ...hanging in the air..

( UTah: btw my other blog Watergate Summer has more about the Sixties...and NOW...and other issues that are a bit more intense..stop over if you like..good to see you)

Beautiful enigma. Yes, something is happening. Despite my bad experience, everywhere else I went yesterday, people were talking. The guy at Home Depot was talking about ethanol, how bad it is, food shortages throughout the world. At Henry's, the checkout gal and I were talking about the extreme weather patterns, that something is so wrong with the environment; at my doctors, the nurse and I talked about food prices and people losing their homes and the war. After each conversation, I noticed a pause,a silence, a black hole like you are standing on a cliff and getting ready to fall. And I swear, I looked into these peoples eyes and I saw real concern of being just swept away by something totally out of their control. And each person I spoke with, I touched their hand or their shoulder afterwards, almost like saying goodbye, almost like saying well, we tried but this, whatever it is is much bigger than any of us. The third time this happened I said to the nurse,"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, that we are in some kind of really big trouble as a human race?"

And she just said, "Yes."

Maybe I was overtired, maybe it was the heat, but it seemed to me that alot of folks were thinking in terms of eternity.

Now, that might seem pretty weird, but it was the sense I got, maybe an intuition, maybe the same sense that deer get when they know hunters are around, maybe an instinct, but it happened, it was real.

So, on the one hand I was pounded and assaulted by a very angry ignorant woman which I'm sure was representative of millions of people, and on the other hand I had a glimpse of what just regular people are thinking about, and they are thinking about our very existence.

I hope people will be brave enough to vote for Obama, because if they aren't and if he isn't elected, any light from the little candle will be quickly extinquinished, just as it was when we lost JFK, RFK and Martin. Only this time I think the effects will be far more severe.

E4E big hug back at ya' but X is my hero nomination for the sixties.

The man radicalized a generation and then spent his last years, after his trip to Mecca, attempting to change the direction of the movement he helped create, along with the passive Dr. King, the freedom riders and the Blacks whose courage to simply vote made them heroes. I respect greatly the Kennedys, but I admire them I named.

He also died for his leadership. His death was simply another crime perpetrated on an entire generation.

I too was a product of the 60's but came from a very liberal household, one that held nothing back as far as political and free thought.

The result of this freedom of thought and the death of them I admire for me was a strongly un-allied mind to any cause.

I've simply learned that no decision of import is to be taken without thoroughly watching and understanding where the Pols are coming from.

I will admit that I like Obama's response to McAsswipe regarding the "sitting down with terrorist" issue...the man is takin the fight to them.

Political aggression has been missing in liberals for years. This exactly what I want to see in the next president. If he keeps it up, this not passive stance, he may gain my admiration instead of simply the respect I give to all who stand against darkness.

Hugging Peace...always

Peace to you friend...I hear you...I hear where you are coming from and what fed your soul and your spirit on this...

I don't know what will happen..where we go..and who leads..I just know we need CHange - we can not continue on this path...it is meant to be changed...

these two blogs are my way of Fighting Back...but also an attempt to heal..( that is the nurse part of me) and to get people to THINK...but also look into their hearts- an attempt to keep OUR Humanity intact....or even reclaim the tattered shreds of it...

If I in any way breath life and spirit back into anyone...if I stir their heart and feed their soul...IF....

I don't know what the Future holds..

RFK and MLK were who I have read and breathed into my soul since I was a child...

and I am trying to give to my son...
and in a way all of you...

namaste...

Marj:::
that was beautiful...I too have been having talks like those...and pauses...and there is a tension in the air...but it is not really excitement..it is painful..desperate......restless...people all look tired...disillusioned...if you look at the Obama Rallies- you see it in the faces..and the lines of people...the eyes...I feel it everyday...I like you try to touch a should or give something back..even a bad joke...It is a fragile candle we hold right now...and the wick is short, and the Darkness Large.....So I send you Light my friend...and hugs..and pray that we all get this Done and Regime Change...there are no second chances on this....

We have to have Courage...Compassion and be willing to share the Light...

As I wrote to Walking Man above....these two blogs are my attempt to give Something back...and try to tend souls and hopefully stoke Our Humanity...it is all I have to give...

You know my feelings about these men. I am currently in the middle of reading Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, "Team of Rivals" about the Lincoln administration. I feel I almost know the human being that was Lincoln and the closer I get to the end, the more the foreboding of his assassination creeps in during the read.

Robert:::
I want to read that too..I am on a waiting list ( library)....

Got the New Vanity Fair ( never buy- wait for neighbors to throw out...) BUT this one is about RFK- very very good piece...

Have a good night...

I would have included John Lennon had we moved forward a decade, in the 60's he really hadn't hit his stride as an activist for peace.

The Beatles were still together until '69, doing the last of their studio albums. It was in the early 70's that He and Yoko Ono started their 'Give Peace a Chance Love In', remember the hotel rooms all over the world where they held court nude from their bed. Ha ha ha...all of the MSM coverage just pounded back on my head.

Even with the near dozen important and very real, history changing assassinations in the world, it was still a simpler easier mind.

I can appreciate what you are doing E4E, with these two places. Someone has to start filling the well of...desire, knowledge, change?

You, TC, PoP and so many others are doing a commendable job in this blog medium. Personally though political thinking is temporary. It passes once the contest is decided, if decided wrongly then the people lapse into indifference and shun the govt, which works under the radar.

Me? I work for a different kind of change. I want people to see their kindness and goodness and in so doing, free them from the chains that bind.

An unfettered mind will normally do what is right for the collective. A free mind is able to consider the souls around it, and work for their freedom as well.

*shrug* Same problem met and fought against 'cept we embrace a different area of freedom to get to the same place.

I may or may not get all political and shit in the near future, but for now I will just work the cybergrid as I do.

Peace

Morning there Walking Man....
Yeah...we all do wha we can do...whether that is enough...for Change..we can only hope...

me...I am politcal..but it is based on something deeper..or an emptiness...that needs to be filled...about conscience...justice..peace.....and yes, the two blogs are about trying to help us keep our Humanity Intact...our souls....

seemed like such a simple goal....

as long as we all get to the same place and in one piece...

Actually Walking Man, the John Lennon/Yoko Ono Bed-Ins for peace took place in 1969. One in March right after their marriage in Amsterdam, and the other in Montreal in May. Two songs - bridging the break of the Beatles in 1970 came of these two events. "The Ballad of John and Yoko" released by the Beatles (although it was really just John and Paul) was released in May five months before "Abbey Road" hit the US. The song contains the lines, "The News people said, say what you doin' in bed? I said, 'we're only tryin' to get us some peace". The May Bed-in attracted a lot of friends including Tommy Smothers, Petula Clark, Dick Gregory and Timothy Leary - all who were involved in the singing and playing of the song, "Give Peace a Chance", which was recorded right there in Room 1742 of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Sorry about that, I can't help with the Beatles knowledge. Big fan here. My son is named Harrison and my daughter is McCartney.

Robert Rouse said...

Oh yeah, and they weren't nude in those hotel rooms. They both wore white pajamas.

enigma4ever said...

Robert:
thank you for educating us on the real story behind the Bed Ins....( it;s not like the press ever gave us the truth..) you are our official Beatles and Music Historian.....Maybe we need a Bed In Again !!!! ( white jammies or nude...).

Just Give Peace a Chance...really was a good song....( people sang it at our Obama Rally - was very nostalgic...and it was mostly college kids singing it...)

( As I write this I am lying in bed...thanks for the memories..)

Thank you Robert for setting my memory straight. I should have done a search before speaking, *shrug* without people like you, people like me would go crazy trying to sort out all of the facts and time lines in our head, Harrison and McCartney, beautiful names. Thank you again, got it straight now.

Peace
